Jumping on the art front train. Next stop: I don't know where!

I am apparently like a dozen people down the line for making icons for these guys, though. That's what I get for being a whole day late, I guess D: This was this morning's whim, anyhow. I blame *tessiursa because she is both a butt and a panda.

And anyhow, this was kind of awkward and tough because these aren't Ponies and because following Sugimori's style is weird and whimsical and because anime art needs to not pretend there are ten light sources. And yes, I know they're proportionately different from one another, but, that's what we get for having 50x50 icons ;_;

All free to use, anyways! Go ahead, everybody :o
Fennekin icon.
Chespin icon.
Froakie icon.

Everyone seems to like Fennekin best xP I think that was the weakest icon of these three, but fortunately everyone else seems to like it, at least~

I'm afraid I don't know very much about Pokemon (years and years ago when she was little my youngest niece used to love them, and I used to draw them for her then) but in any case these are quite cute! I like the design of that little foxy one.

The foxy one, Fennekin, is by far the most popular one of these three xD Not just in my art, but I mean, in all of the fandom. That's the one everybody seems to have latched onto the most, and is getting a lot more fanart than the rest, among other things. I think this is normal for each Pokémon generation, where one starter is always most popular by a very wide margin.

I personally like Chespin, the grass one on the top right. I think I'm in the biggest minority on that, but ehh, big deal :P

Well actually, now that I think about it this really doesn't surprise me at all, considering that foxes and wolves and other canine-type animals tend to be exceptionally popular (and especially around deviantART, I've noticed) so it makes sense that this would also extend to Pokemon. Honestly, if I'm commenting simply on your artwork itself than the frog is probably my favorite, but I have to agree that the little grass one is also cute, though I'm not entirely sure what it's supposed to be!

I don't... I don't really understand what Chespin is either, I confess, but I think I'm often drawn to little nature-related humanoid/biped critters like that, so I'm not surprised that that one's my favourite. There's just something about the idea that rubs all my cute spots, and if I ever had my hands on Pokémon X and Y (I don't intend to), I would take Chespin in a heartbeat~

I'm glad you like Froakie, though :o I initially had bad feelings about that one (I'm not very good at exaggerated cartoon-sized eyes and such), but then the icon came out really nicely and I was pleased with it. I'm happy with all three of these, really, and I was happy that so many people liked them too xD (Although there are much better icons around dA, by people who generally do stuff like Pokémon much more often, where I mostly just stick to Ponies, of course.)

Haha well being a turnip yourself, I suppose it's only natural that you would be somewhat biased towards plant and nature-themed things. ^_~

And yes, I agree that they're all nice, but I would have to say that from a technical artistic standpoint that one is definitely my favorite of the three. Since I'm currently beta-testing the new More Like This feature (bleh, though it actually comes in handy in this instance) I can say your icons look just as good if not better than some other similar Pokemon pixel-arts by different artists!

Ahhh, I'd disagree that mine are better, but I mean, I'm sure that doesn't surprise anybody :P As my one friend would probably say, though, my icons are in my style and other peoples' are in their own, and that is often all that needs to be said about this kind of thing.

It's funny, as far as More Like This goes. These days it seems to be doing a better job of things than it did when it first came out not too long ago. Before it seemed like it was grasping at straws for similar content, but now it seems to feel more like a "related column" like you'd see on YouTube and other such places. (As evidenced by... ahh, well, I've been linking (miiild content warning ahead) this around to my friends, for the lulz, as they say.) I'm hoping that the feature continues to improve, because it would make browsing casually a much easier experience, especially in regards to finding content of a particular subject. It's nice to be able to see stuff on the side, in my opinion.

Haha! I actually don't have a problem with SoarinBurn, and in fact if I'm being completely honest I actually think it makes a heck of a lot more sense than pairing Soarin with a main character like Rainbow Dash, because at least he and Braeburn are both equally undeveloped as minor characters (not to mention I personally have a problem getting behind the age/maturity differences of SoarinDash, since gender is a matter which usually has little bearing on relationships for me if you hadn't noticed). But, I digress. ^^; While I don't really have a problem with "More Like This" as a concept, I actually have voiced my criticisms against the recent implementation change in the weekly site update comments, because in my own opinion having the widget/thumbnails where they currently are really detracts from the featured image we are supposed to be viewing, and not to mention I believe it is wrong for (supposedly/sometimes) similar content to take precedence over an artist's other gallery contents. In other words, if they do insist on having the feature visible on every deviation page, advertising work by other artists in an individual's own gallery, I think that the "More From This Artist" widget should at least be given precedence over "More Like This"... I think that's only fair.

But anyhow. This probably isn't the place for me to be complaining about the feature changes, really, so my apologies for going off on yet another tangent!
