I meant to comment on both of these avatars when you first started using them yourself (obviously at this point, you've since moved on) but of course me being as busy and forgetful as I am it's taken me forever to get around to it, my apologies! Anyway, I really like both of these, very much, and I'd have to say that they're amongst my favorites of those you've done recently, though some of this may also be due to the fact that Lyra is definitely one of my favorite background characters (if indeed not my most favorite, though it's hard not to love Derpy). I always think of you whenever I see her as well, actually, which is another nice bonus! Thank you for sharing dear and as always I look forward to seeing more from you.
I'm actually making a sort of arbitrary habit of changing between icons every day or few days, for nothing other than the fun of it But yes, I did hold onto Lyra for a while, and I will probably return to her too. Lyra is a very special Pony to me, after all~
I'm glad that you really like these ones, because they're two of the best ones I've done, from both a technique and a concept perspective. A lot of my icons are kind of same-y, and these ones definitely break out of that mold in more than one way... I am biased toward Lyra as well, of course, but that bias doesn't really change how good or bad an art piece is, in the end. I admit, though, I didn't know at all that you liked Lyra so much :o She and Bon Bon are equally my favourites, although Lyra does tend to take precedence often enough, but even so. Obviously this makes us background character buddies xP I imagine that between the copious amounts of RariJack and the frequent inclusions of Lyra and/or Bon Bon in the background, if the two of us were somehow watching the show together, we would probably enjoy a lot of the same moments together, one way or another. Or maybe I'm just really silly
Also, if you like Lyra so much, my apologies for depicting some of her more sad times :< But it was something that came straight from my heart onto the canvas, so sorry as I may be for the mood it may set, I don't regret the results one bit.
Hahaha, I wish we could have the opportunity to watch pony together at some point! That really would be a lot of fun, I'm sure, and who knows... nothing is impossible and perhaps someday it could happen! But anyhow, yes, I have been fond of Lyra and Bon Bon and their alleged, shipteased relationship from the moment I first learned about them, though I'd have to say Lyra is my most favorite of the two, considering she often species up the background of the cartoon with some hilarious poses and reactions (though, I'll admit that the amazing voice-changing powers of Bon Bon are quite amusing as well). This does indeed make us background character buddies, I'm happy to say, and as for the somber mood on some of these pieces please don't worry about it dear... after all, as much as I love my darling Applejack, for instance, I know I have also drawn her in sad situations more than once.
They look great and good, they weren't made by your mood. We don't want you to get angry...<>. I have a question though about your pixel contest. When I tried to upload an example of my own on my page the picture doesn't show or I can't view it. What file type should I save it as?
Ahh, you should use GIF or PNG for pixel stuff. Those are the file types used for it, nowadays. Hopefully that helps! If it doesn't, I can try to help you more with it in case you've got some kind of weird bug going on.
*Googles this issue to see if other people sometimes have it*
Try copying and pasting it into a second Paint window and seeing if it'll let you save that way. If that doesn't work, try making the canvas size slightly larger and seeing if it lets you save after that (since that won't change the size of the icon anyways). If those don't work... I'll poke around for some other solutions. I've never really heard of this happening before except for rare times where I'm trying to make my computer do too much at once and it interrupts itself saving the file.
Also, if you're just saving it in Paint, I recommend the PNG file type and not GIF (Paint saves bad GIFs). I should have thought of that earlier, but I'm sometimes forgetful and don't think about things very well.
Okay, I fixed the problem. Turns out the paint program I download did have minor, no big issues. Then I realized that my computer already had a built in paint program. Whoops. Thanks again for your help, sorry about that.
